About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diagnostic Medical Imaging Specialist to join our Medical Imaging team at Lithgow Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing efficient day-to-day management and clinical coverage of the Lithgow Medical Imaging Ultrasound section.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients and carers of NSW Health
  • Ensure the provision of optimal patient health outcomes through the use of current medical imaging safety standards
  • Demonstrate independent and appropriate professional knowledge and judgment to acquire and exhibit competency in all appropriate clinical and diagnostic tasks
  • Train and supervise sonographers and students, while demonstrating effective leadership skills to provide an equitable and supportive working environment
  • Prioritize workloads to ensure staff resources and equipment are used effectively and efficiently
  • Liaise with hospital staff, private referrers, contracted agencies, patients, and family members to ensure seamless communication and care
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in Medical Imaging from a recognized University or equivalent qualifications deemed by the NSW MOH to be equivalent
  • Registered and eligible to remain on the Australian Sonography Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
  • Preferably AHPRA, Medical Radiation Practice Board Registry, and a current Radiation License current NSW EPA Radiation License with GE 1 Radiation License Exemption
  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform a full range of procedures and intervention examinations in accordance with department requirements
  • Demonstrated management experience and the ability to train and supervise sonographers and students
  • Demonstrated excellent clinical reasoning skills in the performance of complex ultrasound procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workloads and ensure staff resources and equipment are used effectively and efficiently
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
