Culinary Specialist

As a Culinary Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

• Innovating and preparing modern cuisine for our valued patients and staff

• Collaborating with the Head Chef to train kitchen personnel on menu offerings

• Preparing meals in accordance with national dietary guidelines

• Assisting the Head Chef in managing food costs, inventory control, and staff oversight

• Leading the kitchen team in the absence of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef

• Availability for a rotational roster, including weekends

• Upholding hygiene standards, Occupational Health & Safety regulations, and overall kitchen cleanliness, ensuring compliance with food safety standards

• Strong knowledge of the HACCP Food Safety Program

• Maintaining effective communication with management and facility personnel

• Leading, supervising, coaching, and developing team members, including cooks and kitchen staff, to deliver outstanding service

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Relevant culinary qualifications

• Proven expertise in health, dietary, and texture-modified food preparation in a healthcare catering environment

• Experience in large-scale cooking, cold larder, and hot production

• Comprehensive understanding of HACCP regulations and Food Standards Australia & New Zealand

• Food Handling Certificate

• Flexibility to work shifts across a 7-day roster, including weekends

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

• Experience in a healthcare or aged care setting is preferred

Compensation: Competitive hourly rates are offered, with additional penalties for weekend shifts.
