Disability Support Worker Job Description">

The role of a disability support worker is to provide care and support to individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities. This involves assisting with daily living activities, such as personal care, meal preparation, and household chores.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, providing emotional support and empathy when needed.
  • Assist clients with mobility and transfers, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Provide transportation for clients to appointments and outings, adhering to scheduled timings and ensuring timely returns.
  • Engage clients in activities designed to promote independence, self-fulfillment, and overall quality of life.
  • Perform domestic duties, including cleaning, laundry, and other household tasks, maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Be flexible with shifts to accommodate client needs and scheduling requirements, demonstrating adaptability and responsiveness.
Requirements:
  • Possess tertiary qualifications in disability or community services, demonstrating expertise and understanding of client needs.
  • Hold minimum 6 months of experience in a similar role, showcasing proficiency and knowledge of client support strategies.
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to make a positive impact on people with disabilities, exhibiting commitment to supporting individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals.
  • Exhibit qualities of resilience, empathy, and self-confidence, alongside patience and understanding, essential for effective client support.
  • Hold current certification in First Aid and CPR, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Hold a valid driver's license with access to own transport, facilitating efficient and convenient transportation for clients.
  • Undergo police checks, ensuring adherence to safeguarding protocols and maintaining trust with clients and their families.
  • Complete NDIS worker orientation, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of National Disability Insurance Scheme principles.
  • Undertake Working with Children Check, verifying suitability for working with minors and vulnerable populations.
