Freight Coordinator Role

As a Graduate Freight Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing freight negotiations and procurement in a leading raw material distributor.

  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with freight providers to secure optimal rates and service levels.
  • Develop and execute transportation procurement strategies to meet business needs and optimize costs.
  • Manage service agreements and operational procedures with freight providers, ensuring compliance with company and legal requirements.
  • Provide advice on road, rail, or alternate domestic freight inquiries.
  • Monitor delivery requirements to meet company expectations.
  • Coordinate and assist in administration and maintenance of records and files for efficient operations.
  • Address quality problems and resolve them in the company's long-term interest.
Requirements

The company is looking for:

  • Recent graduate in Supply Chain, Logistics, with some experience or exposure to logistics and freight environments.
  • Understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and Fatigue Management (desirable).
  • Knowledge of Load Restraint and Dangerous Goods Regulatory Handling and Storage legislation (desirable).
  • Negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, solution orientation, and attention to detail.
