We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Horticultural Specialist to join our team at Shoalhaven City Council. As a key member of our Open Space Management team, you will play a critical role in planning, preparing, and implementing landscape improvements across our city.
Key Responsibilities- Concept Development: Prepare and present concepts and sketches for planned improvements, utilizing your expertise in horticulture and landscape design.
- Machinery Operation: Ensure the safe operation of machinery and equipment, adhering to Occupational Health and Safety requirements and best practices.
- Implementation and Quality Systems: Assist in the implementation of quality systems, including the maintenance of plant and equipment, and contribute to the development of Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Plant Maintenance: Assist in the completion of plant maintenance checklists and perform routine maintenance on plant and machinery.
- Auditing and Reporting: Contribute to the auditing processes of the council by reporting hazards, faults, defects, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Industry Experience: Industry-related trade qualification or apprenticeship in Horticulture or an associated discipline is required.
- Experience in Open Space Management: Experience in the delivery of minor improvement works in public open space and private industry.
- Landscape Design and Construction: Experience with garden and landscape design and construction.
- Equipment Operation: Experience in the safe operation of equipment and machinery in a commercial environment.
- Driver's Licence: Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
