Family Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Family Care Specialist to join our team in Hobart. As a Family Care Specialist, you will work with children and young people in family-based care arrangements, providing casework support and supervision.

About the Role

  • You will undertake child-focused casework practice in partnership with government agencies, families, and stakeholders to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Work closely with carers to understand the impact of trauma, loss, neglect, and abuse on children.
  • Apply the CARE model to enable children to learn trust, develop life skills, form relationships, and gain resilience.
  • Build carer skills to include children in decision-making and support them to reach their potential.
  • Manage cases as prescribed in contracts or funding agreements.
  • Negotiate with government agencies to ensure each child receives care that meets their needs.

Requirements

  • A recognized Social Work qualification with eligibility for AASW membership.
  • Significant experience in child protection and out-of-home care.
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals, families, and communities from a strength-based perspective.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying individual strengths and areas for improvement within foster care.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • An unrestricted driver's license.
