Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead our infrastructure development initiatives in Canberra, ACT. As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of multiple large-scale construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex projects, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and budget adherence. You will be instrumental in shaping the future trajectory of our company, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive operational success and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership:
    • Provide strategic direction and leadership to ground teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and innovation.
    • Oversee daily project operations, ensuring timely completion, budget control, and quality standards are met.
    • Implement process improvements that enhance resource optimization, scalability, and productivity.
  • Project Management and Coordination:
    • Monitor project progress, identifying potential risks and making proactive adjustments to ensure smooth execution.
    • Manage and coordinate resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to optimize productivity and meet project deadlines.
    • Track project budgets and expenditures, working closely with financial teams to maintain cost control.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Reporting:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, resource allocation, and potential risks.
    • Develop and deliver comprehensive reports on key metrics to inform data-driven decision-making.
  • Team Development and Management:
    • Oversee ground teams, providing mentorship, support, and development opportunities to enhance team performance and engagement.
    • Foster a safe and positive work environment aligned with our commitment to quality and safety standards.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and support talent acquisition and retention efforts in line with project needs.
  • Process Improvement and Change Management:
    • Identify and implement operational best practices, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
    • Lead change initiatives in response to growth demands, ensuring seamless transitions and operational effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and refine processes, tools, and policies that enhance efficiency and consistency.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an operations management role within the construction or civil engineering sector, with a proven track record of managing multiple large-scale projects.
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and inspire teams in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
    • Strong project management skills, with experience in resource planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Proficiency in construction project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to dynamic project demands and solve complex challenges.
