About the Role

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Safety and Health Advisor to support the implementation and improvement of the PTA's Safety Management System within the Network and Infrastructure Division.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with employees and contractors, providing advice, conducting audits, and investigating safety incidents to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health legislation.

You will also coordinate safety programs, assist with ergonomic assessments, and promote a strong safety culture through training and awareness sessions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on Occupational Safety and Health matters to employees and contractors
  • Conduct regular audits and investigations to identify and mitigate safety risks
  • Develop and implement safety programs to promote a strong safety culture
  • Assist with ergonomic assessments to identify and mitigate workplace hazards
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on WHS issues
About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Experience in WHS within a rail or operational environment, with knowledge of Safety Management Systems, relevant legislation, and Australian safety standards
  • PTA Individual Access or Protection Officer Track Access Permit (or the ability to obtain the competency within 3 months of appointment)
  • Strong verbal and written communication, including report writing, facilitation, and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated skills in research, analysis, and practical problem-solving, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant policies, legislation, and safety standards
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong organisational skills
