About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Statutory Planning Officer to join our Planning and Development Team at East Gippsland Shire Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective implementation of the Planning Scheme and legislation in the interests of our community and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and report on planning applications for land use, development, and subdivision.
  • Assess and process development applications and subdivision plans.
  • Work with our customers and stakeholders to achieve timely and good quality development outcomes.
  • Prepare submissions and present cases at VCAT.
  • Collaborate with other team members to improve processes.
  • Contribute to planning policies and strategies that shape our future.

Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications and experience, including knowledge of current planning policies and legislation.
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff, public, consultants and statutory authorities.
  • Good knowledge of and the ability to interpret, the various applicable Acts and Regulations relating to Council Planning matters.
  • Ability to investigate, prepare and complete reports on a wide range of planning matters, and make recommendations to management and Council.
  • Capacity to make independent and unassisted decisions.
  • Ability to produce work, which is timely, accurate and to a high professional standard.
  • Ability to work with and guide others in a multi-disciplinary team and be adaptable to change.
