About the Opportunity

As an Orientation & Mobility Specialist at Vision Australia, you will work closely with clients to provide assessment, training, and intervention services to promote equity and access for individuals who are blind or have low vision.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments to determine clients' ability to travel safely and confidently within their desired community areas;
  • Providing advice on and prescribing mobility aids tailored to individual needs;
  • Monitoring and advising on the use of low vision aids as applicable to a mobility program;

To succeed in this role, you should possess approved qualifications in Orientation & Mobility recognized by the Orientation and Mobility Association Australasia (OMAA). Additionally, you will have:

  • Knowledge and skills in working with children, adults, and older adults;
  • Experience in providing client support and O&M services in person and/or through other communication mediums;
  • Training and intervention strategies for individuals and groups;
