About the Role

BESIX Watpac is seeking a Building Cadet to join our Construction NSW division, working through our 2-year cadet and graduate program. This program will provide you with the opportunity to see all facets of the construction industry, including Engineering, Design, Estimating, and Safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive company safety policies, practices, and procedures in compliance with OH&S legislative requirements to provide a safe workplace at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental Policies and procedures.
  • Assist with trade package tendering, including compilation and approval of tender documents and proposed tender list, issue of documents, receipt of tenders, comparison of tenders, and submission of tender recommendation for approval.
  • Assist with general administration of trade packages following award, including progress payments, variations, and final accounts.
  • Assist with the general administration of Head Contract, including progress claims, extension of time claims, and variations.
  • Compile and control project documents, including maintenance of a control register, and ensure prompt issue of documentation to the respective parties.
  • Assist with general site duties, office, and administration as required.

Requirements

  • Studying a Construction/Building/Engineering tertiary course at a recognized institution, ideally in second or third year.
  • Working knowledge of MSWord, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and ability and willingness to learn new software packages as required.
  • Proven high level of professionalism and work ethic.
  • Proven track record and ongoing focus on timeliness, accuracy, and punctuality.
  • Attendance of lectures during work hours not to exceed 1 full-day, or 2 half-days per week.
