Make a Lasting Impact on Bushfire Management

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bushfire Specialist to join our team in assessing and mitigating bushfire risk to our water and sewer infrastructure. This is a critical role that requires expertise in developing and implementing strategic plans, programs, policies, and procedures to ensure the safety of our community.

The ideal candidate will have a degree qualification in natural sciences, bushfire, natural resource management, or a related field, combined with significant experience in planning and coordinating the implementation of bushfire management programs. You will also possess current certifications such as Senior First Aid, Class C Driver's License, and a Construction General Induction card.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop Strategic Plans: Develop, implement, and maintain strategic plans, programs, policies, and procedures relating to bushfire risk management.
  • Liaise with Community Members: Liaise with members of the community and NSW Rural Fire Service to assess and mitigate bushfire risk of assets and land.
  • Assess and Mitigate Risk: Respond to requests from the community, Council, and NSW Rural Fire Service to assess and mitigate bushfire risk of water and sewer assets and land.
  • Funding Opportunities: Seek and manage funding opportunities for bushfire management and fire trail improvements.
  • Operational Works: Prepare and implement operational works and maintenance of bushfire-prone areas within the catchment, critical assets, and the broader network.
  • Hazard Reduction Program: Prepare, coordinate, and report on the Water and Sewer annual hazard reduction program in consultation with the NSW Rural Fire Service and relevant sections of Council.
