Job Title: Research Associate in Advanced Hydrogen Storage Systems

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to join our team and contribute to the design and development of advanced hydrogen storage systems. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the selection of materials for composites used in cryogenic composite tanks, as well as develop storage system simulations to guide the design and manufacturing approaches of larger tanks for commercialization.

The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent) in a related discipline, such as Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials/Manufacturing Engineering, and demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.

The role offers a unique opportunity to develop industry research and professional activities, participate in conferences and workshops, and engage with fellow researchers both at UNSW and other institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the selection of materials for composites used in cryogenic composite tanks
  • Develop storage system simulations to guide the design and manufacturing approaches of larger tanks for commercialization
  • Contribute to the development of advanced hydrogen storage systems
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to achieve project objectives

Requirements:

  • PhD (or equivalent) in a related discipline, such as Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials/Manufacturing Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
