Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Graduate Teacher to join our team at the State Government of Victoria, Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of students and classes, with a focus on classroom management, subject content, and teaching practice. As a Graduate Teacher, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and competencies under the guidance of experienced teachers.

The role involves planning and implementing teaching programs, monitoring and evaluating student progress, and maintaining records of class attendance. You will also have the opportunity to participate in professional development planning, implementation, and reflection, and to develop a professional portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and implementing teaching programs or courses of study
  • Teaching an area of the curriculum or a general curriculum to a year level
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting student progress in key learning areas
  • Implementing strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes
  • Maintaining records of class attendance and recording student progress
  • Implementing effective student management consistent with the school charter
  • Working with a mentor to participate in professional development planning, implementation, and reflection, and to develop a professional portfolio

Requirements:

  • Have completed their course requirements and graduated in the last 4 years
  • Not be employed as a teacher by the Department at the time the advertised position is to commence
  • Be currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
