Family Support Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced family support specialist to join our team. As a lived experience worker, you will play a pivotal role in supporting families and caregivers of young people accessing our services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide recovery-orientated, person-centred peer support to family and caregivers through individual and group programs.
  • Develop and share strategies, resources, and information that can help caregiver education, self-care, and support.
  • Support caregivers to feel safe, have their needs and preferences heard, and advocate as required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver tailored, individual support around identified topics and shared experiences.

Requirements:

  • Completed Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or an equivalent lived experience training program.
  • Ability to facilitate support groups in a safe and inclusive manner.
  • Strong communication and engagement skills.
  • Appropriate sharing of own lived experience, working within professional boundaries and role modelling positive behaviours.
  • Australian Drivers Licence and Working with Children Blue Card.
