Entry-Level Underground Driller Assistant Role

The successful candidate will work with a hard-rock underground mining company, assisting in the exploration of new career opportunities. The role is based in West Wylong New South Wales and involves working on a 14:14 roster from the site or FIFO from Sydney.

The ideal candidate must possess excellent problem-solving skills, be mechanically minded, and have a proactive attitude towards safety and hazard identification.

  • Handling inner tubes to retrieve core and empty into core trays.
  • Repetitive heavy lifting of >20kgs.
  • Housekeeping and maintenance of all equipment, ensuring all workspaces are clean, including washing the LV at end of shift.
  • Identify and rectify potential hazards and communicate immediately to the Driller or Supervisor.

The minimum requirements include:

  • A current Australian manual driver's licence.
  • A National Police Clearance (within 3 months of issue).
  • A clear ability to speak, read, write in fluent English.
  • A proactive attitude towards safety and hazard identification.
  • Ability to perform shift work and be away from home for two weeks at a time.
  • Mechanically minded and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol screen.
  • A positive work ethic in line with the company's vision and principles.
  • Availability to attend the assessment centre for our selection process.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • A Working at Heights Certificate.
  • A First Aid Certificate.
  • Previous experience in labour intensive, physical role.
  • Previous experience assisting exploration drilling operations.
