Financial Controller

SoundBay is a leading supplier of musical instruments, DJ equipment, pro audio and lighting products. The company operates eight retail stores in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, and Brisbane, employing over 200 staff.
This role entails various responsibilities across the finance department, including full responsibility for the Accounts Receivable function. You will be responsible for assessing customer risk and credit analysis, evaluating the creditworthiness of potential and existing customers and monitoring credit limits of all accounts.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the Accounts Receivable ledger, including full credit control responsibilities such as customer account reconciliations and the collection of outstanding debt within stipulated payment terms.
- Evaluate customer risk and credit analysis, assessing the creditworthiness of potential and existing customers and monitoring credit limits of all accounts.
- Provide support to the Education sales team for all education customers.
- Provide Retail Store support in respect of customer and POS transactions/queries.
- Manage various bank and merchant statement and POS clearing account reconciliations.
- Follow up and resolution of fraud transactions and end of month fraud reporting.
- Ability to meet stringent reporting deadlines.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills that allow you to liaise with debtors and internal stakeholders.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills and an understanding of/experience with the reconciliation process and processing of AR.
- Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks to a high level of quality.
- Excellent planning, organisational & time management skills.
- Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Consider yourself diligent and efficient, and a true team player.
- Ability to handle high volumes of data.
- Proactive in developing and improving system processes.
- Significant experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role preferably in the retail industry.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and be able to provide excellent customer service.
They must be able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks at once.
