
Mental Health Support Worker

This is a permanent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Australians in need. The role involves working 35 hours per week and supporting people experiencing suicidal crisis and/or distress.
The successful candidate will work alongside peer workers to undertake initial intake and safety planning for clients, create individualized case plans, and provide ongoing support sessions with clients as required.
Key responsibilities include supporting family, carers, friends, and kin involvement in safety and support planning, liaising with other support services and organisations to coordinate the requirements of the case plan, and delivering group programs to support practical needs.
The role also involves assisting clients in transitioning out of the service into independence or other services, ensuring documentation is completed and updated according to protocols, and demonstrating relevant tertiary qualifications or significant relevant work experience.
Additionally, the successful candidate will require a sound understanding of mental health and suicidality, mental health systems, and recovery-oriented practice, experience working within a peer workforce with a focus on trauma-informed, recovery-oriented practice, and a sound knowledge of crisis intervention services and engagement strategies.
A current NSW Driver's License and First Aid Certificate are also essential requirements for this position.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Relevant tertiary qualifications or significant relevant work experience

- Sound knowledge of crisis intervention services and engagement strategies

- Computer literacy using Windows
