As a senior underwriter in the motor department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our organization by providing expert underwriting advice and building strong relationships with intermediaries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert underwriting guidance on risk assessment, terms, conditions, and pricing for new business and renewal accounts
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers to secure new account opportunities and enhance renewal retentions
  • Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and standards as issued by our company and partners
  • Support product underwriters in developing broker relationships for creating new account opportunities
  • Train and develop underwriters to improve their skills and knowledge
  • Establish relationships with capacity providers to increase our market presence
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the portfolio, including key trends and market insights

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years' motor underwriting experience, with knowledge and expertise on heavy motor
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and clients
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, attention to detail, and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess risks and make sound underwriting decisions
  • Familiarity with Australian insurance regulations and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and mutual support
