About the Role

Austal is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Painting Foreman to join our team. As a Painting Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of painting projects, from initial planning and preparation to final execution and quality control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of painting crews and contractors.
  • Plan and schedule painting projects to ensure timely completion.
  • Inspect surfaces to determine the type and amount of work required.
  • Provide quotes on projects including schedule information.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
  • Communicate with internal customers to understand their requirements and provide updates on project status.
  • Order and maintain inventory of painting supplies and equipment.
  • Train and mentor apprentice painters to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure that all work meets the required standards.
  • Resolve any issues or problems that arise during the course of the project.
  • Collaborate with other trades and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Prepare and submit reports on project progress and any issues encountered.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
  • Manage project budgets and control costs to ensure profitability.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Painting Foreman or similar role.
  • Level 2 NACE certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • High risk license, forklift, cherry picker.
  • Working at Heights ticket.
  • Confined space ticket.
  • Gas test atmosphere training.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good physical condition and stamina.
