About the RoleThe Senior Analyst will work closely with the Inspector-General of Water Compliance to ensure that government agencies and water managers comply with their obligations under the Water Act 2007 and the Basin Plan 2012. The role involves monitoring and oversight of government agencies, providing advice on risks to integrity, and engaging with stakeholders to educate and inform them about the work of the Inspector-General.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Inspector-General in carrying out their inquiry functions under the Water Act
- Monitor and oversee government agencies to ensure compliance with legislation and intergovernmental agreements
- Provide advice on risks to integrity in the management of water resources
- Engage with stakeholders to educate and inform them about the work of the Inspector-General
- Support the coordination of staff and adjustment of plans to meet changing demands
- Understanding of risk and harm management practices, preferably within a regulatory or compliance environment
- Experience in supporting evidence-based decision-making
- Experience working in a team-oriented, agile environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify key information needs
- Ability to provide high-level advice on risks to delivering legislative objectives

Security Clearance: This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

Citizenship: To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, you must be an Australian citizen.
