**Job Opportunity: Fitter and Turner**

We are seeking a skilled Fitter and Turner to join our team at the Puckapunyal Defence Base. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to make a real difference.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing all trade-related weapon maintenance tasks, including installation, repair, and reconditioning of military armaments and Defence support equipment. They will also ensure that all plant and equipment are safely operated and certified as serviceable and fit for purpose.

This role requires strong technical skills and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. If you have a Trade Certificate III Engineering Mechanical (Fitter & Turner) or equivalent qualifications, and are willing to complete specific Defence Equipment maintenance training, we would love to hear from you.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Perform maintenance, servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance on military equipment
  • Safely operate machinery to repair, manufacture or modify required parts
  • Certify plant and equipment as serviceable and fit for purpose
  • Fit and assemble parts
  • Complete tasks within assigned time constraints, escalating matters that will compromise these constraints at the earliest opportunity

**Requirements:**

  • Trade Certificate III Engineering Mechanical (Fitter & Turner) or equivalent trade qualifications
  • Eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1
  • Must have valid Driver's License
  • Physically fit and enjoy hands-on work
