Job Title: Science Teacher - Chemistry Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Science Teacher - Chemistry Specialist to join our team at St Andrew's Grammar. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and learning programs in Chemistry and Science to students in Years 7 to 12.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning:
    • Plan and implement coherent, well-sequenced teaching and learning programs that engage students and maximize learning.
    • Use a range of teaching strategies to deliver quality programs responsive to students' learning strengths and needs.
    • Use assessment feedback to inform teaching practice.
    • Establish inclusive, supportive learning environments.
    • Develop, select, and use informal and formal, formative and summative assessment strategies to assess student learning.
    • Prepare and deliver timely and targeted feedback and reports to students and parents.
  • Pastoral Care:
    • Actively participate in pastoral care and well-being programs and other cocurricular activities, some of which will occur outside normal school hours.
    • Communicate with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians in a respectful, clear, caring, and professional manner.
  • Other Duties:
    • Participate in school functions including Speech Night and Parent Teacher evenings.
    • Carry out supervisory duties as required.
    • Engage in professional reading and development as part of an expectation of continual professional learning.
    • Participate in department meetings and whole staff meetings, some of which may occur outside of normal school hours.
    • Participate in the Co-curricular Program of the school.
    • Abide by the staff Code of Conduct and other School policies.
    • Other duties as may be required.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications:
    • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent (Bachelor of Education- Science and/or Bachelor of Science).
    • Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
    • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Experience and Skills:
    • Proven expertise and knowledge in teaching ATAR Chemistry.
    • A demonstrated understanding and appreciation of principles and practices of student learning strategies and styles.
    • Excellent communication skills to a range of audiences.
    • A collaborative approach with colleagues in planning and delivering curriculum.
    • Proven experience in establishing and fostering relationships with students, staff, and parents.
    • Demonstrated desire to apply a growth mindset to professional development.
    • Experience in teaching the subject and a passion for the education of students from Years 7 to 12.
    • Understanding and awareness of the Western Australian Curriculum from Year 7 to Year 10.
    • Experience integrating ICT in the teaching and learning process.
    • Ability to successfully manage several diverse tasks in a busy school environment.
    • With personal responsibility and through collaboration and teamwork, be able to successfully navigate and manage change.
    • Implement strategies and expectations which promote a positive learning environment.
