About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Origin Energy in Newcastle. As a key member of our Asset Management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the long-term sustainability of our power stations.

Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing geotechnical and civil asset management strategies, ensuring optimal asset performance and reliability. You will also be responsible for supporting overhaul works, implementing condition monitoring techniques, and driving successful execution of capital works.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement geotechnical and civil asset management strategies for Origin's generating sites
  • Support overhaul works through geotechnical and civil scoping, providing technical oversight for optimal asset performance
  • Implement condition monitoring techniques to proactively identify maintenance and improvement opportunities
  • Drive successful execution of capital works through quality processes and engineering estimations
  • Lead geotechnical investigations, analyses, and designs, with a particular focus on tailings management
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into project designs, ensuring optimal outcomes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years' experience in Geotechnical engineering
  • Specific experience in tailings management, particularly with ash, and familiarity with brownfield industrial environments
  • Current CPEng and RPEQ (or eligibility for) registration
  • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software and strong analytical skills to provide accurate civil and geotechnical inputs
  • Strong leadership skills, taking initiative on key technical requirements and safety implications while providing guidance and direction in technical situations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration qualities, working effectively in diverse teams
