**Job Title:** CFD Mechanical Design Engineer

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving mechanical engineering services design, construction, and implementation of enterprise data centres that meet global quality and performance standards. They will evaluate cooling systems using in-depth CFD knowledge to make data-driven decisions aligned with our guidelines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate cooling systems using in-depth CFD knowledge to make data-driven decisions aligned with our guidelines.
  • Drive successful project delivery while maintaining the highest performance standards.
  • Utilize innovation to reduce PUE, water consumption, and CAPEX while increasing efficiency.
  • Develop mechanical documentation including but not limited to narratives, drawings, specifications, etc.
  • Drive process improvements across the organization.
  • Perform building energy use calculations for determining capacity and type of cooling system required.
  • Perform CFD models on innovative and next generation designs.
  • Provide reports to senior leadership on the results of those models.
  • Perform water efficiency use calculations to determine quantity of water needed on site.
  • Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams to answer requests for information.
  • Work with global ME teams to achieve alignment of design and CFD modeling standards.
  • Develop special projects and assist senior engineers with detailed calculations for special projects.

 

Requirements:

  • 5 years experience with Sigma Six or HELYX CFD modeling software.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering.
  • Thorough understanding and use of principals, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering.
  • 8 years experience in designing HVAC systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer in training or Chartered Engineer.
  • Understanding of building controls documentation.
  • Programming skills in Python and AI tools.
  • Deep understanding of data center mechanical systems and cooling control schemes.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, AIRAH, etc.
