About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our team at Atlassian. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality big data and software solutions that meet the needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design and develop high-quality big data and software solutions that meet business needs.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior engineers, and architects to design and ship new features.
  • Code Quality: Contribute to maintaining high code quality through peer code reviews, defining coding standards, and establishing best practices.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish and drive improvements to operational excellence, including security, reliability, availability, performance, and procedures.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data-driven approaches to drive decisions and propose technical solutions to navigate ambiguity and change.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Data/Software Engineering with relevant exposure to big data ecosystems.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Expertise in handling complex problems in distributed and big data environments, experience building applications in languages such as Kotlin, Scala, Java, or Python, strong knowledge of AWS services, and experience building services from the ground up.
  • Cloud Architecture: Familiarity with cloud architecture patterns and an engineering discipline to produce software with quality, performance, scalability, reliability, high availability, and operational excellence.
  • Big Data Tools: Experience with tools such as Databricks, Spark, EMR, Flink, or StarRocks.
