About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Development Officer to join our Planning Services team within the Development Services unit at the City of Playford.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist technical advice on complex built-form and land division development applications, as well as acting as a senior point of contact for all matters related to planning assessments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on complex development applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to problem-solve and make key decisions on growth and planning initiatives.
  • Develop and implement key planning policies and guidelines, as well as contribute to committees and the Council Assessment Panel.
  • Provide mentoring and training to Development Services and Planning team members, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Observe, comply, and promote safe work health and safety practices across the organization, community, and customers.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Urban & Regional Planning.
  • Full membership of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Development Act 1993, Planning, Development & Infrastructure Act 2016, and associated legislation.
  • Working knowledge of complex development applications, including preparation of legal briefs and instructions.
  • Effective time management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing.
