Senior Employment Counsel Opportunity

This organisation is seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel with extensive expertise in employment law, industrial relations, and enterprise bargaining to provide high-level strategic and legal advice across critical areas.

The key role provides operational excellence and mitigates risks while advancing the organisation's mission. The trusted advisor will play a pivotal part in providing expert legal advice with a strong focus on member and customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver legal advice with a focus on service excellence.
  • Manage enterprise bargaining processes and litigation.
  • Provide counsel to internal teams and executive management, interpreting complex issues and translating them into actionable insights.
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalise commercial agreements and contracts.
  • Prepare submissions and reports for regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with external counsel, government agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research, interpret legislation, and provide critical opinions.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Laws degree and an unrestricted practising certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience, preferably in unions, membership organisations, or related sectors.
  • Ability to manage complex processes and environments.
  • Strong skills in research, negotiation, and compliance.
  • A proactive approach with excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Passion for the industry and ability to work under pressure.
