The Estimating Manager (Transmission) is a key position within UGL's Utilities business, responsible for leading and providing estimating expertise to ensure competitive winning edge on new work. This role requires a strong understanding of transmission line projects and the ability to develop cost-effective estimates that meet agreed contractual arrangements and client scope.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to the group by monitoring workload and progress to ensure the most effective use of resources and assessing resourcing needs to meet business objectives.
- Consult with operational departments to establish requirements and detail the accuracy of tender pricing.
- Attend pre-award and post-tender meetings with the wider Pre-Contracts Team, responding to any queries or understanding requirements.
- Develop and implement standard estimating guidelines and tendering processes across the Utilities Business, aligning with Corporate Governance requirements.
- Provide leadership, direction, supervision, and inspirational management to all team members.
- Establish clear communication, solid lines of control, and actively create and maintain a culture of openness, responsiveness, honesty, ethics, and responsibility across the team.
- Quantity Surveying or Engineering Degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in an engineering and construction environment with an emphasis on Transmission Line projects.
- Estimating from first principles, with a self-performing and contracting deliverable environment.
- Experience with estimating software, necessary with a background in Expert Estimation, CCS, or CATS desirable.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships and sound communication skills.
