The Riverina Teaching Hub Program is a unique opportunity for individuals to become secondary teachers in the Riverina region. This program is based on the Alphacrucis Teaching Hub Model and is a partnership between the Department of Education and the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Program DetailsAs a participant in the Riverina Teaching Hub Program, you will have the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or postgraduate teaching degree with UNSW while working part-time as an Educational Paraprofessional in a participating local NSW public secondary school. This program provides a flexible and supportive environment for aspiring secondary teachers to complete their studies and gain practical experience.
EligibilityTo be eligible for the Riverina Teaching Hub Program, you must:
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Be willing to complete an undergraduate or postgraduate teaching degree at UNSW and meet course entry requirements.
- Be willing to complete Teaching Hub Program requirements, including paid part-time work as an Educational Paraprofessional one day per week at a participating school.
- Be willing to accept an appointment as a permanent full-time teacher in a NSW public school on completion of your studies, for a minimum of three years, at an agreed location.
The Riverina Teaching Hub Program offers a range of qualifications for participants to study at UNSW using a hybrid delivery mode. Eligible courses include:
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary) – approximately 4 years for undergraduates:
- Specialising in History, Indigenous Studies or Languages including Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish
- Specialising in Science and Mathematics
- Specialising in Business and Economics
- Specialising in Economics
- Postgraduate (Secondary) – approximately 1.3 years for postgraduates with an eligible specialisation.
As a participant in the Riverina Teaching Hub Program, you will receive:
- A wrap-around support system from the Department of Education and UNSW.
- An annual training allowance of up to $7,500 per full-time year of study.
- The opportunity to complete your teaching degree while working part-time as an Educational Paraprofessional in a participating school.
- A guaranteed appointment as a permanent full-time teacher in a NSW public school on completion of your studies.
