About the Role

The Consultant Psychiatrist is a key member of the St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne team, responsible for delivering high-quality clinical services to consumers of the Clarendon Community Mental Health Service (CMHS). This role involves providing expert psychiatric care, contributing to service evaluation and research, and promoting a culture of ongoing learning and professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and liaise with community services, NDIS providers, private psychiatrists, and general practitioners to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Ensure effective communication with staff from the community and services of St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, NDIS providers, private psychiatrists, and general practitioners.
  • Work collaboratively with mental health clinicians, lived and living experience workforce, operational and other staff to ensure the optimum management of consumers' recovery-oriented needs.
  • Assess and manage consumers of the service according to current best standards, using the best available evidence and meeting the requirements of relevant law, ethics, and community needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
  • Registration with AHPRA.
  • Current National criminal history check, or willingness to obtain.
