Job Title: Heavy Diesel Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Fitter to join our team at Centurion Transport. As a vital member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough mechanical assessments to diagnose and repair issues with precision.
  • Service and maintain our fleet of trucks, trailers, and motor vehicles in accordance with our Maintenance and Workshop procedures.
  • Identify and recommend solutions for complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including brake and suspension repairs, steering system maintenance, and engine component replacement.
  • Conduct body building tasks, including welding and grinding of chassis or comb rails on flat top trailers.
  • Handle auto electrical work on all 12 or 24 Volt systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Order and replace worn or damaged parts, ensuring adherence to Quality Standards and Manufacture Specifications.
  • Develop and update preventative maintenance schedules to prolong equipment lifespan and reduce breakdowns.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used, ensuring compliance with company Policies & Procedures.
  • Adhere to all Safety protocols and Regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Heavy Diesel Fitter working on fleet vehicles and trailers.
  • Australian recognized Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
  • Unlimited Australian work rights (no restrictions).
  • Passionate about all things mechanical, with the ability to think critically and creatively to diagnose complex mechanical problems efficiently.
  • A meticulous approach, ensuring every aspect of the machinery is thoroughly assessed.
  • A strong commitment to safety practices.
  • Good physical fitness for heavy lifting and working in various positions - essential.
  • Dedicated and reliable, with a strong team player mentality.
