Academic Accessibility Specialist

This is a Fixed Term position until 28/06/2024, offering Part Year with Early Dec to Mid Jan off. The salary for this role is HEW 6 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements – Hybrid Ways of Working, 3 days in office.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance and advice on reasonable adjustments and equitable assessment arrangements for students with accessibility needs, long-term illnesses, and mental health conditions.
- Assess and clarify the students' needs, circumstances, and options, fostering independence amongst tertiary students.
- Determine reasonable adjustments, including the application of assistive technology, to support students with disabilities, long-term illnesses, and/or mental health conditions to succeed in their studies.
- Significant experience working with students with disabilities, long-term illnesses and/or mental health conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to foster independence amongst tertiary students with disabilities, long-term illnesses and/or mental health conditions.
- Proven ability to assess the learning impacts of students with a broad range of disabilities, long-term illnesses and/or mental health conditions and determine reasonable adjustments.
- Knowledge and understanding of inclusive practice approaches in teaching and assessment.
- Knowledge of disability-related legislation particularly in relation to education.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate and resolve conflict.
- Strong organisational skills including a demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work effectively and efficiently under pressure.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, and the ability to lead and adapt positively to constant change.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to diversity, inclusion and reconciliation.
