Asbestos Expert

We are seeking a seasoned asbestos expert to undertake complex fibre identification and counting, train junior analysts, and drive quality improvements in accordance with international standards.
About the PositionThe ideal candidate will be responsible for performing intricate asbestos analysis, reviewing results, administering training programs, and driving method development and compliance in line with ISO 17025.
Main Responsibilities:- Conduct comprehensive asbestos fibre identification in soil and bulk materials using advanced techniques
- Undertake and oversee complex fibre counting using precise methods, ensuring accuracy and precision
- Approve and finalise analytical results and reports
- Provide expert technical guidance and support to clients
- Lead internal and external training sessions for junior analysts and clients
- Manage proficiency testing programs and contribute to their development
- Drive innovation and improvement in asbestos analysis methods
- Conduct internal audits and collaborate with external auditors to maintain accreditation compliance
- Mentor and support the professional growth of junior staff members
- Maintain strict adherence to WHS, NATA, and ISO 17025 standards
- A degree in a relevant science field (e.g. Chemistry, Environmental Science)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in asbestos identification and fibre counting
- Advanced expertise in advanced analytical techniques
- Strong understanding of ISO 17025 and NATA accreditation requirements
- Experience in training and mentoring junior professionals
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients and stakeholders
