Urban Planning Specialist

RPS Group is seeking an experienced Urban Planning Specialist to join our Brisbane team. As a key member of our Place and Environment Team, you will be responsible for providing strategic and statutory planning advice to public and private clients.

With a diverse range of clients across various sectors and geographies, your working day will be varied in terms of the type of projects you are working on and the people you are working with.

This role is client-facing, with the opportunity to be the client liaison and deal directly with other project team members, government, and other key stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to mentor and work with more junior team members.

You will be based within our Brisbane Place and Environment Team, a multi-disciplinary team that includes town planning, landscape architecture, survey/mapping, and urban design. You'll also have the opportunity to engage with our advisory and project management teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the preparation of planning reports, studies, and strategic planning projects.
  • Coordinate studies and projects, including Due Diligence Reports, Planning Proposals, and Development Applications.
  • Work directly with clients, internal and external project team members, government, and other stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with your colleagues at RPS Group.

Qualifications Required

  • Tertiary qualifications in urban/town planning (or equivalent).
  • Ideally 5 years' experience in the planning/approvals/environment assessment industry (QLD &/or NSW experience preferable).
  • Experience in providing strategic and statutory planning advice to public and private clients.
  • High-quality writing abilities.
  • Ability to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Strong commitment to client service, team work, and passion to shape planning outcomes.
