Pressure Welder

We are seeking a highly skilled Pressure Welder to join our team at Plinius Engineering & Wrought Iron Pty Ltd. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of workmanship in the fabrication and welding of steel structures.

• Technical Expertise
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand project requirements and determine the appropriate fabrication methods.
  • Read and interpret piping isometrics and engineering drawings.
  • Carry out measurements and calculations.
• Fabrication and Welding
  • Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock.
  • Carry out welding using MMAW, GMAW.
  • Pressure pipe fitting and pipe welding in accordance with approved weld procedures.
  • Structural welding in accordance with approved weld procedures.
  • Bolting, clamping and tack-welding of parts to secure correct positioning for assembly.
• Equipment Operation and Maintenance
  • Operating various tools and equipment, including welding machines, gas torches, shears, presses, and drills, to perform fabrication tasks.
  • Maintaining fabrication tools, equipment, and workspaces, ensuring they are clean, organized, and in good working condition.
• Quality Control and Safety
  • Conducting inspections and quality checks on completed work to verify adherence to specifications and industry standards.
  • Adhering to safety procedures, following safety guidelines, and always wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
• Continuous Improvement
  • Actively participate in the continual improvement of the company's QHSE System.

• Proven experience as a pressure welder / boilermaker.
• At least 5 years as Pressure welder.
• Knowledge of different types of metals, their properties, and suitable welding methods.
• Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
• Experienced in pressure pipe and structural fabrication and welding.
• Experienced in welding with Mig, Tig.
• Experienced in using weld procedures.
• Certificate III or IV in Engineering Fabrication Trade or recognised international equivalent. We will also consider applicants with at least 3-5 years + relevant experience in lieu of the formal qualification.
• Familiarity with a range of hand and power tools, including grinders, drills, and cutting tools.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete assigned tasks.
• Strong communication skills.
• Self-motivated, organised, punctual and reliable.
• Must have great work ethics.
