About the Position

The La Trobe Rural Health School is a leading institution in rural health education, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality programs in nursing and midwifery. We are seeking an experienced academic to join our team as a Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and deliver subjects and courses in nursing and midwifery, ensuring alignment with accreditation requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning outcomes and engagement.
  • Contribute to the promotion and recruitment of students for our nursing and midwifery programs, and support student retention and success.
  • Provide input to course accreditation and quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Contribute to research teams and projects, leading to formal research outputs and publications.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with industry stakeholders, healthcare providers, and research institutions to enhance teaching, research, and clinical practice.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated clinical experience as a practicing dual registered midwife and registered nurse, with current registration.
  • Clear understanding of accreditation requirements and skill capabilities for entry-level registered nurses and midwives.
  • Appreciation of industry trends and requirements to inform teaching and research activities.
  • Passion for rural health and wellbeing, and understanding of rural healthcare needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and co-supervise honours and postgraduate students.
  • Ability to use technology to facilitate innovative and engaging presentations of teaching materials and research outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey scientific and non-scientific information to various audiences.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams, and working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in preparing research proposal submissions and securing research funding.
Additional Requirements
  • Dual registration as a registered nurse and registered midwife with the NMBA and AHPRA.
