Job Description

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to fill the role of Remote Census Engagement Manager.

This position plays a crucial role in maximising participation in the Census by connecting the ABS to stakeholders and members of the community in regional and remote areas.

As a Remote Census Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering Census engagement activities for your assigned region. This includes developing, updating, and reviewing engagement plans, promoting participation in the Census through community visits, promotional activities, and presentations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing effective engagement strategies to maximise Census participation.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with community leaders, service providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Providing cultural considerations and area-level intelligence to support Census operations.
  • Collaborating with other Census and ABS staff to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Conducting community outreach and promotion activities to increase awareness and understanding of the Census.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Demonstrated experience or knowledge in working with or advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Ability to connect and engage with a range of service providers, communicate effectively, and develop strong working relationships.
  • Communicating sensitively and effectively to present information to both small and large groups or communities.
  • Capability to work independently, prioritise tasks with limited guidance, and make decisions independently.
