The Transport Asset Manager (TAM) has been established to enhance safety and reliability of heavy rail assets, facilitating long-term investment in rail infrastructure and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the accuracy and integrity of asset data, ensuring informed decision-making and risk management.
  • Prepare business cases, reports, and recommendations by analysing asset data, assessing risks, and engaging stakeholders to support asset management decisions.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop an integrated investment plan aligning with long-term infrastructure strategies and funding requirements.
  • Lead the creation and continuous improvement of Strategic Asset and Services Plans to support operational safety, reliability, and sustainability.
  • Provide technical assurance on asset performance, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, maintenance, and operational standards.
  • Identify innovative asset improvement opportunities, including new technologies, asset upgrades, renewals, and divestments that align with digital transformation and operational goals.
  • Act as the asset owner in governance processes relating to acquisition, sustainment, renewal, and divestment activities, providing strategic advice and final approvals.
  • Lead cross-functional engagement to successfully integrate new technologies and digital systems, maintaining real-time control, safety, and network coordination capabilities.

  • Manage the evolving technological landscape in control systems and communications, balancing innovation with system reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Navigate the complexities of digital transformation while managing cybersecurity risks and legacy system maintenance during transition phases.
