Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Naval Shipbuilding Drafter to join our team at Kinexus. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing detailed electrical drawings and schematics to support naval shipbuilding and sustainment projects.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to support project requirements.
  2. Collaborate with engineers and designers to ensure compliance with defence standards and industry best practices.
  3. Participate in design reviews and technical discussions to address project challenges and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
  4. Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and naval stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met.
  5. Assist in the preparation of technical reports, work instructions, and project documentation as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience as an Electrical Drafter, preferably in the defence, naval, maritime, or heavy engineering industries.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, or similar CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of electrical drafting standards, cabling layouts, and schematic development.
  • Knowledge of defence industry requirements, including AS and MIL-STD.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and engineering specifications.
  • Experience with cable management, earthing systems, and power distribution in complex environments.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to quality control.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Australian Citizenship - must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Baseline or NV1).
