About the Role

This is a role that involves contributing to high-impact legal matters in support of Australia's renewable energy transition.

The team provides legal services on environment and planning matters within the Commercial Real Estate practice group, working closely with clients to drive growth and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • 4 years PQE in environment, climate change, and major projects for energy and tech transitions such as wind farms, solar farms, pumped hydro, data centers, and automated warehousing.
  • Preferably worked in top-tier or leading global teams, ideally with experience in the Land and Environment Court or equivalent.
  • Qualifications from leading universities with impressive academic records (i.e. distinction average and above) and electives in environment, sustainability, administrative, and private international law are considered favorably.
  • Exceptional written and verbal advocacy skills, demonstrated by clear communication, persuasiveness, and emotional intelligence.
  • Familiarity with mixed advisory, transactional, and strategic litigation practice, noting the team has run some of the most important cases in Australia to support the renewable energy transition.
  • Relative fluency in environment legislation and case law, including planning and environmental approvals, contaminated land, environmental prosecutions, climate change risks, and environmental markets.
  • Familiarity with policy and political positions on environmental matters for effective negotiations with regulators and key decision-makers.
