
Heavy Plant Equipment Specialist

As a skilled Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
The position involves working across the Tweed Shire, operating plant in civil construction works under the direction of a project supervisor.
When the plant is idle or under repair, this role performs non-driving duties with the Roads and Stormwater Unit.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating and maintaining plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Maintaining plant equipment in serviceable condition for maintenance and civil construction works.
- Performing non-driving duties with the Roads and Stormwater Unit when plant is idle or under repair.
Work Environment
This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
What You'll Need To Do
- Operate and maintain plant equipment in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of plant maintenance and usage.
- Perform non-driving duties with the Roads and Stormwater Unit when required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to enable reading of job instructions, operation and maintenance manuals, and to complete work records.
- Demonstrated competency in relevant civil plant and machinery, including excavators, backhoes, graders, loaders, cranes, transport/truck, and dog trailers.
- Hold a General Construction Induction Card (White Card) and may require additional National High Risk Work Licences and/or RMS heavy vehicle licence (MR, HR or HC).
- Demonstrated experience in the operation of one or more additional plant and machinery listed in this position description.

We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary ranging from $1,015.29 per week with competency-based increments up to $1,159.66 per week, plus 10.5% super.
