Job Description

A pipe layer is a skilled trade professional responsible for laying and connecting pipes to transport fluids, such as stormwater, across various sites.

They work primarily on construction projects, often under the supervision of a project manager or team leader. The primary duties of a pipe layer include:

  • Laying and connecting pipes using trenchless technologies or traditional excavation methods
  • Ensuring the integrity and quality of installed piping systems
  • Collaborating with other tradespeople, including excavators, backhoes, and heavy equipment operators

The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of civil and road construction practices, along with relevant certifications and qualifications, such as white card/red card, CIC, and high-risk work licenses.

We are seeking a motivated individual who can effectively communicate and collaborate within our team. Experience working in drainage or sewer projects, especially those involving reinforced concrete pipes from 300mm Dia to 2100mm Dia, would be beneficial.

Responsibilities will include: Calculating pipe grades and levels, assisting drainage crews with broader project tasks (backfill, compaction), and conducting regular inspections of pipelaying operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge of civil and road construction practices
  • Certifications and qualifications (white card/red card, CIC, high-risk work licenses)
  • Experience working on drainage or sewer projects
  • Knowledge and experience in laying stormwater drainage pipes

It would be advantageous if the applicant held an excavator ticket, front-end loader ticket, or similar tickets that demonstrate their expertise and flexibility in handling different types of heavy equipment.
