Job Title: Policy Adviser

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Policy Adviser to join our team at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing strategic advice to the Prime Minister and Government on policy priorities requiring collaboration between the Commonwealth and state and territory governments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to inform policy advice and support the delivery of the Government's agenda.
  • Lead the development of high-quality, considered, and timely advice and briefings on health, aged care, the care and support economy, and/or Commonwealth-state policy matters.
  • Drive a positive, innovative, and inclusive culture across the Department.
  • Draft guidance and advice to Commonwealth Departments and advocate for a whole-of-government and whole-of-nation approach to issues spanning social policy, economic policy, and national security policy.
Requirements
  • Strategic judgement and experience in getting across complex issues quickly.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to quickly build strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills, tailoring communication to the audience.
  • Demonstrated resilience and proven capacity to deliver under pressure in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Critical thinking skills, able to contribute and challenge ideas on a wide range of issues.
Eligibility
  • Australian citizenship is required.
  • Security clearance is required.
  • Pre-employment screening checks will be conducted.
