Opportunity for Groundbreaking Research in Varroa Mites

This pioneering Australian research project aims to combat one of the world's biggest threats to bee populations by developing targeted miticides that eradicate Varroa mites while safeguarding bees.

The Role:
  • Conduct innovative research: lead design and execution of projects aligned with expertise and UniSC's priorities.
  • Publish research findings: disseminate results through high-impact journals, conferences, and scholarly outlets.
  • Collaborate with the research team: engage in collaborative efforts, foster a productive research environment, and contribute to interdisciplinary projects.
  • Secure research funding: participate in securing grants and funding opportunities to support projects.
  • Contribute to research impact: communicate outcomes to stakeholders, demonstrating societal impact.
About You:

You are a driven researcher with a strong track record of high-quality publications, methodological expertise, and a collaborative approach. You proactively pursue research funding and are dedicated to delivering impactful work.

  • Completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field.
  • Foundational knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, and pharmacology.
  • Demonstrated ability in molecular/cellular biology techniques, including RNA preparation, cDNA synthesis, PCR, molecular cloning, plasmid preparation, mutagenesis, DNA sequencing, and in vitro transcription of mRNA.
  • Experience in designing and implementing in vitro or in vivo insecticide/miticide assays.
  • Refereed publications and evidence of quality outputs.
