UGL is a leading engineering, construction and maintenance services provider across various industries.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Power Utilities team based in Sydney. This role will be responsible for providing detailed designs, developing specifications and collaborating with management on design issues.

About the Role

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will be accountable for conceptual and detailed design of HV Substations, Transmission Lines, BESS, solar and wind farms, as well as developing specifications and interfacing with management on design matters.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for planning and conducting professional engineering works, attending site or supplier premises to confirm project requirements, and effectively communicating with CAD draughtspersons to optimize drawing output.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design HV substations, transmission lines, BESS, solar and wind farms
  • Develop specifications and interface with management on design issues
  • Plan and conduct professional engineering works
  • Attend site or supplier premises to confirm project requirements
  • Effectively communicate with CAD draughtspersons to optimize drawing output

Requirements

  • 4-year degree qualification in electrical engineering
  • At least 6 years' experience in primary design of HV plants
  • Fundamental understanding of primary design
  • Detailed understanding of HV cable design, earthing design, and lightning protection
  • Solid knowledge of insulation coordination, EMF, and lighting design
  • Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, email
  • CPeng status desirable
