Electrical Design Engineer Opportunity

The position involves responsible design of HV Substations and HV Reticulation Networks (up to 33kV) following relevant international standards. This requires provision of detailed design documentation as per IEC 62271 and AS 60076.

  • Proficient in planning, conducting professional engineering works, and developing single line diagrams for HV systems and protection systems.
  • Required to have a thorough understanding of HV protection systems and insulation coordination principles including familiarity with Australian Standards such as AS 2067.
  • Experience in designing substation layouts considering clearances as per Australian Standards and cable sizing following IEC 60228 and IEC 60853 is necessary.
  • Familiarity with fault calculation, power quality, and harmonics is also required.
  • Must be able to interface with other disciplines, develop technical specifications, and assist with site installation and commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of HV modelling software and cable sizing software is essential.
About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A University degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of experience in HV substation and HV distribution network design.
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian and International standards and codes is essential.
  • Ability to develop specifications and provide input on design issues is necessary.
  • Chartered status including RPEQ, NER & CPEng is desirable.
