The New Zealand Defence Force is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Naval Aviation Commander to join its team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dedicated individual to take on a key leadership role within the Navy's aviation community.

As a Naval Aviation Commander, you will be responsible for commanding aircraft and personnel in a variety of operational environments, including at sea and in support of humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations.

You will work closely with pilots, observers, and other aircrew to ensure the safe and effective employment of aircraft assets, and will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Command aircraft and personnel in operational environments
  • Develop and implement tactical plans to achieve mission objectives
  • Lead and manage teams of aircrew and support staff
  • Collaborate with other agencies and units to achieve joint operational objectives
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high level of physical fitness
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong tactical and strategic thinking
  • Able to work effectively in high-pressure environments
  • Ability to pass a security clearance check
