About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Engineer to join our team at Ku-ring-gai Council. As a key member of our development control team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that development applications are assessed and approved in accordance with Council's policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and prepare recommendations and conditions for development and subdivision applications, providing technical advice on stormwater management, flooding analysis, traffic and parking, access, construction traffic management, geotechnical and civil infrastructure.
  • Report on engineering assessment matters relating to developments, subdivision applications, subdivision works certificates, and construction certificates.
  • Coordinate endorsement of subdivision linen plans and other conveyancing documents.
  • Attend to public enquiries and correspondence, providing specialist advice on a range of engineering matters.
  • Undertake pre-lodgement meetings in accordance with procedural guidelines and provide high-quality technical advice.
  • Ensure subdivisions and/or developments are constructed and comply with Council standards, policies, and planning permits.
  • Conduct engineering investigations, carry out site inspections, and attend meetings to ensure all subdivision and/or development works comply with engineering planning permit conditions/requirements and approved construction plans.
  • Provide expert technical advice for Land and Environment Court hearings, at panel members, and on-site meetings.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Local Government experience desirable but not essential.
