About the Role

The Counsellor will provide counselling services in the Immigration Detention Facility through assessment, case formulation and case management, structured interview techniques and therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate group sessions on a diverse range of mental health topics
  • Provide health promotion education and activities
  • Provide assessment, counselling and casework services including support and referral services
  • Help to organise excursions or other activities of a pro-active nature that will help with the well-being of the population
  • Ensure that documentation is accurate, precise and concise

Requirements

  • Full working rights in Australia
  • Relevant qualifications and or experience in counselling, social welfare, education or social sciences
  • 3 years proven experience in the delivery of counselling services, case management and case coordination in mental health setting
  • Experience working in AoD areas or with individuals with AoD issues highly desirable
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to use Electronic Medical Records systems, e-mail, excel and MS word
